Matt Crouch On NY CityFest

We’re excited to be in New York City this weekend to partner with Luis Palau in his historic NY CityFestoutreach. Laurie and I will be in Times Square tonight, July 10th, and in Central Park tomorrow for two great events that will include music from some of the best artists in contemporary Christian music, along with a message of hope from Luis Palau. Our new TBN Salsa Latino network will be covering both of these events live, so be sure and tune in.

Over the past several months Luis Palau and his ministry have partnered with area pastors, churches, and ministries — including TBN’s own full-power station WTBY-TV54 — to impact this city for Christ. And the results have been phenomenal. Through a group called NY CityServe, thousands of believers from over 1,500 congregations of all sizes and shapes have spread out across the boroughs and neighborhoods of New York City to show the love of Jesus through acts of kindness and compassion.

In many areas where crime, poverty, addiction, and hopelessness have reigned nearly unchallenged, God’s people have reached out to love their neighbors to Christ through acts of compassion and mercy, like neighborhood cleanup, outreaches to kids and teens, and even food distribution to needy families. Through it all thousands of individuals and families have found the hope that can only come through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

For fifty years that theme — hope in Christ — is what has compelled Luis Palau to travel to 75 countries, sharing the good news to tens of millions of individuals through festivals and events much like those we’ll be a part of this weekend in New York City. And in that time more than one million people have said yes to Jesus, opening their hearts to a relationship that brings meaning and hope to every part of their lives.

That is what NY CityFest is all about — reaching people right where they’re at and introducing them to the God who loves them unconditionally and is absolutely for them. This is what the gospel should look like everywhere we take it.

Laurie and I are super excited to be on hand with TBN Salsa and Luis Palau for these two culminating events of NY CityFest. Friday night, July 10th, we’ll be in Times Square from 6 to 9 p.m. for an evening of music with TobyMac, Mandisa, Matt Redman, and Marcos Witt, along with a timely message of hope from Luis Palau. And on Saturday, July 11th, from 4 to 10 p.m., we’ll join over 60,000 New Yorkers in Central Park for a free concert featuring top Christian recording artists, followed by a great message from Luis and his team.

TBN Salsa’s coverage will include behind-the-scenes segments and up-close interviews with some of the individuals who have made this project a success. Over the past forty-plus years TBN has partnered in many exciting outreaches around the world, and NY CityFest, with its strong representation from area Latino pastors and churches, provides a gold mine of great faith-and-family content for TBN Salsa. You won’t want to miss any of it!

The great things happening in New York City are representative of how God is moving in power across the earth to make the Name of Jesus famous. Here at TBN we’re privileged to have a front-row seat to many of these epic “God moments” — and let me tell you, they ruin you for anything less. Won’t you join us?
