Peace on Earth

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” — Luke 2:8-14

The Christmas story is the greatest declaration of peace and goodwill in all of history. It is the true story of God Himself reaching down with the answer to all of humanity’s sin, brokenness, and despair: His One and Only Son. Jesus was — and is — the Great Exchange for all that afflicts individuals, families, peoples, and nations across the earth.

But even though Jesus died and rose again victorious over all sin and wickedness, there’s still no shortage of sin, hatred, and evil in the world. In fact, it all seems to be getting worse by the day. Of course, Jesus said it would, telling us that as the time of His return grows closer, “sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12, New Living Translation).

The truth is that there can be no “Peace on Earth” without the Prince of Peace, Jesus, reigning in the hearts and lives of men and women. And that won’t happen unless someone goes and tells those who don’t know that Jesus alone is the “way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).

That’s why TBN is on the air 24 hours a day, covering every inhabited continent: to get the Good News out to every tribe, nation, and people that Jesus came to give them abundant, everlasting life! Every hour of the day the staff and teams of our nearly thirty international networks and affiliates are working diligently to broadcast the precious message of God’s grace and mercy to people in every corner of the earth. And we thank God that throughout the past nearly forty-three years almost forty million individuals have placed their trust in Jesus because of the broadcast efforts of TBN.

Throughout this holiday season will you join us in obeying Christ’s command to pray for the great harvest of souls that is coming in the days ahead — that those laboring in that harvest will bear incredible fruit for God’s kingdom? And pray with us also that even in the midst of increasing unrest and uncertainty, the Holy Spirit will do a mighty work throughout the earth, that He will break in with power where sin and iniquity reign, and draw multitudes to the salvation and healing that only the Prince of Peace can bring.

By the way, don’t forget to tune in to TBN’s Hope for the Holidays Christmas special, airing Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
